چکیده

The effects of 10, 50, 100, 200 and 300 ìg mlÿ1 of bromopropylate and methidathion were investigated in the cells of Azospirillum brasilense grown in chemically de®ned media and dialysed-soil media. The insecticide bromopropylate did not affect microbial growth, the levels of ATP and dinitrogen ®xation of A. brasilense in either chemically de®ned media or dialysedsoil media. Methidathion signi®cantly reduced dinitrogen ®xation, the intracellular levels of ATP and growth in cells grown in chemically de®ned media. However, these negative effects were not signi®cant in cells grown in dialysed-soil media, showing that A. brasilense can tolerate high concentrations (300 ìg mlÿ1) of methidathion under the present experiment conditions.

Microorganisms associated to tomato seedlings growing in saline culture act as osmoprotectant

Less than 0.5% of total water in the world is available for human consumption and agriculture. The major part of the world's water is saline and salinity in soils interferes in germination of seeds and the posterior development of the plant. In order to increase the osmotolerance of tomato, seedlings were associated with Azospirillum brasilense Cd, Azospirillum brasilense Cd transformed bacteri...

Membrane potential, proton and sodium motive forces in Azospirillum brasilense Sp7-S

Some biophysical features of the diazotroph Azospirillum brasilense Sp7-S were studied. It maintained a stable but relatively low membrane potential (v8) of about 385 mV in conditions typical of aerated soil solutions. Internal pH was also well regulated at about 7.4 from pH 6^8. The calculated proton motive force was maximal at 3220 mV in pH 5.0 medium, decreasing to zero at pH 8.8. This proto...

P-136: In Vitro Development of Ovine Oocytes Matured in A Chemically Defined Medium

Background: Despite great advances achieved in the field of in vitro oocyte maturation (IVM), almost all IVM media are supplemented with undefined component which not only pose the risk of pathogen transmission but also hinders our knowledge of molecular mechanisms of maturation. One of these components is serum that containing various concentration of unknown molecules affecting cellular proce...

Analysis of Indole-3-Acetic Acid and Related Indoles in Culture Medium from Azospirillum lipoferum and Azospirillum brasilense.

Analysis of neutral and acidic ethyl acetate extracts from culture medium of Azospirillum brasilense 703Ebc by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and combined gas chromatography-mass spectrometry demonstrated the presence of indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), indole-3-ethanol, indole-3-methanol, and indole-3-lactic acid. IAA in media of 20 strains of A. brasilense and Azospirillum lipoferum...

ARABIDOPSIS THALIANA AS A MODEL SYSTEM FOR THE STUDY OF THE EFFECT OF INOCULATION BY AZOSPIRILLUM BRASILENSE Sp-245 ON ROOT HAIR GROWTH

Seedlings of Arabidopsis thaliana, Columbia ecotype, were used in vitro to analyze root hair growth response to inoculation by the plant-growth-promoting rhizobacterium, Azospirillum brasilense Sp-245. Root hair length was measured at physiologically-identical stages of root growth. In seedlings inoculated with A. brasilense, root hairs were more than twice the length of those of the non-inocul...
